Eight local wrestlers qualify for State Meet

FORT PIERRE – A total of eight Fall River County high school wrestlers qualified for this week’s State Class “B” Wrestling Championship in Rapid City following top-four finishes at the Region 4B Tournament hosted by Stanley County this past weekend.

Representing the Hot Springs Bison at state this year will be seniors Garrett Heil (1st at 195 lbs), Kody Hagen (2nd at 145 lbs) and Chad Kelso (3rd at 182 lbs), juniors Caleb Maciejewski (3rd at 295 lbs) and Teejay...

Oelrichs Lady Tigers win 7th place game versus Upton, Wyo.

RAPID CITY – The Oelrichs Lady Tigers earned a 1-2 record in last week’s West River Tournament to place seventh overall after defeating Upton, Wyo., by a score of 58-49 in the final game at the Rushmore Civic Center on Saturday afternoon. The team however lost to Moorcroft in their first round game in Hot Springs last Tuesday by a score of 28-54, and then lost to Hot Springs in Wall on Friday by a score of 38-50.

Edgemont boys finish in fifth

RAPID CITY – After losing a close first-round game to Wall by a score of 52-60 on the Eagles’ home court last Thursday night as part of the 37th annual West River Tournament (WRT), the Edgemont Moguls boys’ basketball team played their next two games on the consolation side of the bracket, which they won to place fifth overall. Their wins over Moorcroft (66-51) and Newell (48-47) improved their overall season record to 6-5.

Bison place second at West River Tourney

RAPID CITY – The Hot Springs Bison boys’ basketball team was dominant in their first two games last week in the West River Tournament to qualify for their third straight championship finals game in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Saturday night, where they faced Wyoming’s fourth-ranked Upton Bobcats.
