Bills teams each win quarterfinal games: Mighty Mites advance to BHYFL Super Bowl

RAPID CITY – For the first time ever, a Hot Springs Bills youth football team will be competing in the BHYFL Super Bowl, which is the league's biggest game of the year and the culmination of more than three months of hard work, lots of practices and weekly games.

The Black Hills Youth Football League (BHYFL) features teams across three different divisions based on age: Mighty Mites (1st-2nd grade), Junior Pee Wee (3rd-4th grade) and Pee Wee (5th - 6th grade).

Most all towns in the Black Hills participate with teams in each of the three divisions, including Rapid City (three teams – Broncos, Steelers, Vikings), along with the Hot Springs Bills, Badlands Eagles, Belle Fourche Cardinals, Box Elder Patriots, Custer Ravens, Lead-Deadwood 49ers, Spearfish Rams and Sturgis Buccaneers.

After concluding the regular season earlier in October, the Hot Springs Bills sent two of its teams to compete in the BHYFL playoffs this past weekend in Rapid City, where both the fourth-seeded Mighty Mites and fourth-seeded Junior Pee Wees won their quarterfinal matchups on Saturday, Oct. 27, versus the Belle Fourche Cardinals.

The Bills' Mighty Mites won by a score of 45-26, while the Junior Pee Wees won 13-0.

The next day, on Sunday, Oct. 28, the Mighty Mites continued their dream season with a 27-19 win over the previously undefeated and No. 1 seeded Rapid City Broncos, which qualified them for the BHYFL Super Bowl versus the Box Elder Patriots this coming Sunday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is set for 10:30 a.m. at the S.D. School of Mines football field.

The Bills' Junior Pee Wee team however lost their semifinal game versus the Badlands Eagles by a score of 6-30.
