December 9, 1930 - January 11, 2019
Theresa Dunsmore, 88, formerly of Edgemont, passed away January 11, 2019 at Country Manor Nursing Home in Sartell, Minn. She was born December 9, 1930 to August and Edith (Sweeny) Daum in Edgemont. She attended all 12 grades at Edgemont and was active in sports, lettering in basketball.
Theresa met the love of her life, Ernest R. Dunsmore (who asked her out on a date as a dare) and they married June 1, 1949. To this union 4 children were born, Victoria, Sharon, Charles and Christina. During her lifetime she worked as a clerk typist at Black Hills Ordinance Depot and as a nursing assistant in Rapid City and Hot Springs VA hospital (work she dearly loved).
Theresa also loved animals. They seemed to be naturally drawn to her. She spent many hours helping Ernie with his pigs, cows, rabbits and the multitude of cats and dogs that graced her home. Growing flowers (petunias in particular), raising a garden, doing yard work, playing bingo, fishing, and watching sports on TV were some of her favorite pastimes.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Chuck and Jerry, her husband Ernie and a grandson.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki and Sharon, Big Lake, Minn.; son, Charles and wife Jo Anne of Oak Grove, Minn.; and daughter, Christina and husband J.O. Miller of Plattsmouth, Neb.; 6 grandchildren, Erin (Kevin); Dawn, CJ, Kelli (Jordan); MaLinda (Dan); and Andrea; 9 great grandchildren, Marek, Aurelia, Arianne, Savanna, Liam, Knox, Viggo, Lilyanna and Cora Rose; brother, John and wife Donna; Helen Daum and Fern (Owen) Parkinson, sisters-in-law.
She will be buried with her beloved Ernie on May 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
