School Board Meeting Held December 8

The meeting started out with the call to order, roll call (absent - Diane Stevens and Lane Ostenson), pledge of Allegiance, approval of agenda and approval of November 10, minutes. The board made a motion to enter into executive session at 7:05 p.m. Lane Ostenson arrived during the executive session. Black Hills Health Care to Ensure Safe Water

In continued routine water testing, VA Black Hills Health Care Systems’ (VA BHHCS) results for Legionella showed Legionella pneumophila (a bacteria known to cause Legionella disease) in three fixtures in Building 148 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.
The health risk to Veterans, employees, and visitors at this point is considered to be very minimal. VA BHHCS has never had a documented case of Legionella disease.

VSO Glad To Be Of Service

HOT SPRINGS – To say that Dan Cullen’s path to become the Veteran’s Service Officer (VSO) for Fall River County has been somewhat circumferential could be an understatement.
Cullen, 52, has been the VSO since being hired from a list of applicants by the Fall River County Commission this summer. He has hit the ground running and really enjoys his positions – in the veteran’s community and in the Southern Hills.

Commission Acts On Omitted Properties

Approximately ten Fall River County property owners, who had their valuations lowered due to a computer error, had those mistakes reversed by the Fall River County Commission at the commission’s Dec. 4 meeting.
In most cases, the parcels in question had building values accidently removed from the property’s valuation, due at least in part to a change in computer software. In one case, a building was mistakenly added to an adjacent property.
