HOT SPRINGS – Despite having fewer participants this year, there were 125 more flights of stairs climbed during last week’s 5th annual 9/11 Battle Mountain Grand Stair Challenge.

The event was inspired by the late Wade Burns, a local veteran born on Sept. 11, 1972, who came to Hot Springs for treatment at the VA Medical Center. HOT SPRINGS -- The Fall River County Community Action program is truly community in action, as volunteers and a few paid staff support the mission of the local Western South Dakota Community Action program. “People helping people” is the theme of the private, nonprofit, anti-poverty corporation, which was incorporated in 1965.
