Students participate in Honors Band

SPEARFISH – Several students from Edgemont High School and Middle School took part in the Northern Hills Honor Band in Spearfish on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

The 26th annual Honors Band event was hosted by Black Hills State University and featured students from throughout the area who were nominated by their teachers and chosen by BHSU faculty.

According to Edgemont Music Director Suzanne Hollenbeck, the students spent all day Tuesday rehearsing and then performed a concert that night. Dr. Christopher Hahn, a professor at BHSU, directed the Middle School Band and Dave Martinson directed the High School Band.

Representing Edgemont in the concert were Bridget Neville, Lacette Klein, Abby Tidball, Callie Printz, Kyran Urban, Maddie Peterson, Mackenzie Hollenbeck, Peyton Ostenson and Amy Printz.

Hollenbeck said senior Abby Tidball has been chosen for the Honors Band for the last seven years, ever since she was in 6th Grade. Fellow senior Maddie Peterson has been chosen for six years while Callie Printz has been for five years.
