Local youth wrestlers qualify for Regions

WALL – A total of 15 Fall River County youth AAU wrestlers qualified for this week's Region 1 championship after placing in the top-eight at this past weekend's District 2 tournament in Wall.

The Hot Springs Little Bison wrestling club will be sending 11 competitors to the region tourney in Rapid City this Saturday, while Edgemont will be sending four to the meet.

Following are the results for all of the Fall River County youth wreslers.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Former Hot Springs Lady Bison standout volleyball player Haley Bilbruck, now an Opposite Hitter with the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks of Cape Girardeau, Mo., will head to the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Oelrichs, Edgemont girls end seasons in Region 7B playoffs

OELRICHS – The first round of the Region 7B girls basketball playoffs saw fellow Fall River County foes Edgemont and Oelrichs facing off, with Oelrichs earning a 40-34 win in front of their home fans on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

SIOUX FALLS – With five Hot Springs Bison qualifiers, and two from Edgemont as part of the combined Custer/Edgemont team which included six more qualifiers, the two Southern Hills schools combined to put five wrestlers on the podium of this past weekend's 2018 State Class “A” Wrestling Championship in Sioux Falls.

Edgemont boys drop pair of road basketball games

EDGEMONT – After a 10-day hiatus from any games played, the Edgemont Moguls boys' basketball team was back in action last week as they traveled to Hulett, Wyo., on Tuesday and then to Oelrichs on Saturday. Despite averaging 56 points in the two games, the Moguls fell in both, first losing to Hulett 62-84 and then to Oelrichs 43-75.
