The State AAU Wrestling Tournament in Rapid City on March 25 and 26 brought 1,315 youth wrestlers to the Civic Center Ice Arena. The divisions are Tots, Bantam, Midgets, Novice, School Boy, and Cadets. There were 1,168 boys who qualified and 147 girls who qualified and competed in their own divisions. The Tots to School Boy divisions wrestled to eight finalists and their place rounds were held on Sunday, March 26. The Cadets (15-16) wrestled their final places on March 25. Edgemont Wrestler, Brennen Hanes competed in the 138 pound weight class. He won his first match by decision then lost the second match which placed him in the wrestle backs. He won his first wrestle back match by a decision. The he wrestled right on his required rest and lost by a decision, placing him in the fifth or sixth place match. Again, he wrestled on his rest and lost to finish with a Sixth Place finish. Good job Brennen and good luck in your future wrestling career.
