Rose Rachel Vogel was born October 13, 1926 to Richard and Rachel (Geis) Vogel in La Salle, CO. The eldest of three girls, Rose spent her growing up years in Portland, OR and in Gering, NE. Rose married the love of her life, Albert Conrad Speaect, on January 18, 1942 in Harrisburg, NE. To this union were born four children: Albert Gene, Linda, Jerry and Kathy. Rose and Al moved to Hot Springs during the construction of Angostura Dam in 1949, where they settled and raised their family. Rose was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a great cook and baker who always had room for one more (or a few more) at the dinner table. When she wasn’t busy cooking or cleaning she could often be found at coffee with the girls at “the corner”, working on the books for one of Al’s many business adventures or even narrating a tour of Hot Springs on “Old 83”. After Al passed away in 2000, Rose remained in Hot Springs until declining health required her to be in nursing care.
Rose had a deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rose was baptized in 1952 and shared her faith with her family and friends alike. She was a gifted vocalist and shared that God given gift at countless church services, weddings and funerals.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughters: Linda Perales of Casper, WY and Kathy (Bruce) Ziebarth of Miles City, MT, daughters-in-law: June Speaect of Hastings, MN and Anna Speaect of Oral, SD; grandchildren: Rick (Gaylene) Speaect, Robin (Loren) Burow, Randall Speaect, Larry Boyd, Scott Boyd, Tom Boyd, Jason Boyd, Thad Boyd, Shane Perales, Shawn Perales, Mark Speaect, Jeff (Wendy) Speaect, Lori Speaect, Chris Speaect, Jennifer (Eddie) Druce, Monica Wilson and Ryan Foreman; sixteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, sister Dorothy Mueller, sister-in-law Ruth Linney and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
