Crispy Cinnamon Crunches 

1 ¾ cup Flour

½ tsp.  Cinnamon

2/3 cup Shortening

1 cup Sugar

1 Egg

1/3 cup Milk

¼ tsp. Vanilla

1 Tbsp. Water

1/3 cup Sugar

½ tsp. Cinnamon

1/3 cup Chopped Nuts

Sift together the flour and ½ tsp. Cinnamon.  Cream shortening.  Gradually add 1 cup sugar, creaming thoroughly.  Blend in egg yolk, milk and vanilla.  Add dry ingredients gradually and mix well.  Spread mixture in 15 x 10 inch ungreased pan.  Beat egg white slightly, add water.  Spread egg white mixture over surface.  Combine 1/3 cup sugar, ½ tsp. cinnamon and the nuts.  Sprinkle evenly over top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  Cut into squares while still warm.
